"In order to lose fat you have to starve yourself."
- SAID NO ONE EVER
Unfortunately, a lot of people believe that in order to lose fat they have to starve themselves. This is FALSE FALSE FALSE! I don't starve, I don't cut carbohydrates, and I am NEVER hungry. That is another misconception - you do not need to cut carbohydrates to lose fat until you are about 13-15% body fat - aka a bikini competitor ~5 weeks out from competition. Your body uses carbohydrates as energy and if you cut them out and don't get enough fats in your diet your body will pull from the protein you're eating. This will slow your metabolism. Remember I am not a dietitian but Layne Norton explains all of this is his videos and he has his PhD in nutrition. SO I listen to him.
Nomz - Everything I ate today!
*** I usually have 1 more meal BUT I hit snooze this morning and didn't get to the gym until 8, which is when I should have been eating my first meal so everything got pushed back. The meal I am missing is - turkey meatballs, natural pasta sauce, spaghetti squash, and green beans.
POst Workout
So my day started with a stellar shoulder and chest workout. Today was supposed to be leg day but my back is still bothering me and I am now TERRIFIED to squat. (Which is my favorite thing - so it's killing me). Lately, I have been having bad reactions to my Whey Protein. I've been Lactose Intolerant since birth but I've always been able to deal with small amounts. However, after Christmas I cut out all dairy because my body hates why I eat / drink it. Yup, no more Greek Yogurt (aka my favorite snack - sad day). If you don't already know - Whey Protein is made from milk so it causes me to bloat like a balloon. So after my workout I cooked up some egg whites. Notice they are on paper towels - epitome of poor college student living in a dorm.
Breakfast
Next came Breakfast! Unfortunately, I ate most of it before I thought to take a picture. Just imagine this entire container filled with yummy oatmeal. For breakfast I had 3/4 cup of oats with cinnamon. NOMZ. Carbs get in my belly.
Lunch
I drove back to Cincinnati today for the weekend, on the way my mom and I stopped at Whole Foods. Normally, I have my food precooked. Well I did..... but it was frozen in a cooler and that WAS NOT HAPPENIN. Frozen tilapia? Blah, yuck. So this is the seriously the best salad I have ever had. In it was Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, Mixed Greens, Carrots, Sweet Peppers, Cucumbers, Mushrooms, Asparagus, and Fresh Salsa. BOOOOOM. This was the BOMB! On the side I had a Coconut Cashew Quest Bar (not pictured because I devoured it).
Afternoon Meal
Yup, I eat a lot. Sometimes I have to force myself to eat because it's so much food! But hey, I don't want to lose any of the muscle put on - so I gotta do what I gotta do. Here we have Arugula, Mushrooms, Red Bell Pepper, 1/2 Avocado, and 2 packets of Low Sodium Tuna. Oh and a buttload of cracked black pepper.
DInner
YUMMYNESS! For dinner I had 2 Tilapia Filets, 1/2 cup of Brown Rice, Aspargus and I topped it with Siracha and Soy Sauce (not pictured because that makes it UGLY.
Dessert
Best meal of the day! Woot Woot! Yup, dessert everyday! Sorry y'all once again I ate it before taking a picture of it so you're going to have to deal with one I stole from the internet. For dessert I had a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bar! Stick this bad boy in the microwave for 15 seconds and it tastes like a chocolate chip cookie! NOMMMMZ.
As you can see I definitely DON'T starve myself and I don't eat boring food! My body loves when I eat clean! Reward your body with good food and it will reward you back!
